With the intention to expand its portfolio in India, Kawasaki is bringing the Ninja 7 Hybrid and Z E-1 to India soon. At least that’s what is expected considering the brand has recently patented the two bikes in India.
Now, it’s very much possible since Kawasaki has been making some big moves in India by launching new models like the Ninja 500 and the Eliminator 500. Although patenting doesn’t always guarantee the launch of a bike in the market, it is expected that Team Green will launch one of the two patented vehicles here.
The Ninja 7 Hybrid uses the same 451 cc powertrain that the Ninja 500 and Eliminator uses. The bike also sports an additional electric motor. The 451 cc parallel twin cylinder 4V liquid DOHC unit generates 44.7 bhp of power and 42.6 Nm of Torque.
The electric motor further enhances the power to around 60 bhp. The Ninja 7 Hybrid also gets shift paddles in the left side switchgear, unlike the traditional 6-speed manual gear selector on Ninja 500 and Eliminator.
The Hybrid also weighs a massive 227 kg, due to all its added electrical powertrain components. It weighs quite higher than its other ICE counterparts like the Ninja 500 and Eliminator. Expect the bike to be priced around Rs 10 lakh or more if launched in India since it’s being sold for a higher price than the ZX-6R globally.
Meanwhile, the other patented bike, Z E-1 is a fully EV two-wheeler with 2 removable 1.5 kWh batteries with a total capacity of 3 kWh. The motor produces a peak power of 9 kW which is less than OLA S1 Pro’s 11 kW.
The Range and Speed are also very much limited and since India is a very price-conscious market, the launch of the Z E-1 in our market is highly unlikely, if we go by the specs sheet. Kawasaki is expected to bring any of the models in India by the end of this year.
