Hero Xoom 160 – Not your average “Scooty”

The Xoom 160 is Hero’s first ever bold attempt to make a big scooter and this is going to be a big landmark in Indian automobile history since currently there are no such scooters in the Indian market. Although there are some Adventure scooters, they are mostly manufactured and sold in the international markets.

Now the Xoom 160 looks like a maxi-scooter, due to the presence of a central spine, similar to the Aerox 155. But it is actually a touring machine, and Hero makes sure it performs well in that by adding a wide-looking single seat and a large floorboard space. And the scooter makes sure you look good too while touring, thanks to its tall body proportions, large windscreen and V-shaped headlights. The company also added a beak at the front which is a subtle but welcoming addition. A large top box will also be offered as an accessory in the near future.

The scooter gets regular telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks. The braking is handled by a front and rear disc brake mounted on 14-inch wheels. The Xoom 160 also comes loaded with features including a smart key, an ignition dial and remote key ignition, a smart find feature and LED lighting. The scooter will also be offered in a range of attractive colours along with accessories which will be revealed at a later date.

Powering the Hero Xoom 160 is a brand new 156 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine and its power figures are yet to be revealed. Hero will likely price this scooter around Rs 1.3 lakh (ex-showroom) or even less and judging from the engine displacement and features, the bike will inderectly compete with the Aerox.
