BMW S 1000 XR Launched in India
The S 1000 XR borrows its heart from the S 1000 RR superbike. The motor as claimed by BMW has been reworked and now produces 170 hp at 11,000 RPM and 114 Nm at 9,250 RPM, 5 hp more than the outgoing model’s engine.
The brand also claimed that the S 1000 XR is quick as well and can sprint from 0 to 100 kph in just 3.25 seconds with a top speed of 253 kph. When it comes to design, the bike now sports a body-coloured fender replacing the black-beak one with the rear part featuring new side panels and air intakes which according to BMW is inspired by motorsport.
The seat has also been redesigned to make the bike better suited for both touring and riding on tracks, it is now 850 mm in height and can lowered.
The S 1000 XR also gets some extra equipment depending on the chosen package – Touring, Dynamics and M, out of which the Touring and Dynamics are standard with the former including a luggage carrier, hand protection, a centre stand, a slot for a navigation device, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and heated grips. Meanwhile, the Dynamics package offers dynamic ESA pro, cruise control and assistant pro.
Lastly, the M package offers an M Sport seat, M endurance chain, M GOS-Laptrigger, tinted windscreen, sports silenser, M lightweight battery, a black filler cap, M forged wheels or M carbon wheels (optional). The M Package is the only one with the M sport-themed white colour and costs Rs 2.50 Lakh more than the standard price.
The all-new BMW S 1000 XR costs a premium of Rs 40,000 at Rs 22.50 lakh (ex-showroom) over its predecessor and at this price point, the bike will compete with the likes of Ducati Multistrada V4 RS and Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak.
