BMW F 450 GS to launch in India Soon – Details

BMW Motorrad India has been gearing up to launch the BMW F 450 GS in India soon. The bike was earlier spotted during test runs near the TVS factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The brand has recently discontinued its entry-level motorcycles – G 310 R and G 310 GS. The brand did not consider updating to meet the stricter and latest OBD-2B emission norms due to the higher costs. The upcoming F 450 GS will be filling that entry-level gap in BMW’s lineup.

The BMW F 450 GS was showcased as a concept back at EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy. The ADV was then showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi. The recent spy shots from Hosur showed a production-ready F 450 GS, which carries a lot of elements from the concept model.

The F 450 GS takes inspiration from its bigger sibling, the R 1300 GS when it comes to design. The overall profile and fairing has been carried over from the concept with a small windscreen upfront and beak-like front fender. However, the test mule was seen with riding on a set of alloy wheels rather than the cross-spoke units which were seen on the concept model.

Speaking of which, the Adventure bike will likely get a 19-inch front wheel while the suspension will be handled by fully adjustable USD front forks and a monoshock at the rear with load damping. The concept weighed at 175 kilos, so expect the market-ready version to be slightly heavier. Knuckle guards were also seen on the concept, which will be carried over to the production unit.

The BMW F 450 GS will be powered by a new 450 cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine, which delivers a total power of 48 bhp (Torque figures not yet disclosed, but expect it to be good). The engine is paired to a 6-speed transmission with slipper and assist clutch as standard.

The new ADV is expected to launch in the last quarter of 2025 in India and will be locally manufactured by TVS at its Hosur production facility. The bike will be positioned below the F 900 GS and will take on the likes of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure.
