The much anticipated Ather Rizta has been launched with a starting price of Rs 1.10 Lakh going all the way up to Rs 1.45 Lakh (ex-showroom). The Rizta is a more affordable and commuter-oriented Electric Scooter when compared to the brand’s 450 range, but it still has some interesting features.

Ather Rizta India Launch – Highlights

Talking about the Rizta’s design, it’s more boxy and rounded, unlike the sporty sharp edges of the 450 line-up. The headlamp is an LED unit which is almost rectangular in shape with integrated indicators, much like the TVS iQube. The long seat ensures good comfort for daily commuting and should be enough to fit two adults easily. The tail lamp is a rather sleek, flush-mounted unit with integrated indicators.

Rizta is also using the same aluminium frame but eh 450X, although Ather tweaked it a lot, especially the rear to make it wider and also reduced the height a bit to ensure riders can access it comfortably. The reworked chassis makes it much easier to manoeuver in slow-speed situations, making it much more practical and friendlier on the road.

Ather Rizta Z variant

The Rizta weighs at 119 Kg, which is almost the same as the TVS iQube and is one of the lighter offerings in the e-scooter space although it weighs 8 kg more than the 450X, which is physically smaller. The sear height is also at a manageable 780 mm and has a good ground clearance of 165 mm. The underseat storage of the scooter is 34 liters which is massive, although not as massive as the 43 litre unit on the River Indie. But the Rizta also offers another pocket under the seat to store keys, small snacks and more.

Interestingly, the Rizta’s accessory “drunk” is 22 litres making the total storage up to 56 litres. There’s also another accessory on offer called the Organizer which opens up as a carry bag for the items stored in the underseat storage. There’s also an under-seat multi-purpose charger that can be used to charge any device and it’s the same mounting point for the newly launched Halo smart helmet’s charger.

Talking about features, the Rizta is the first E-scooter in India to feature a traction control system which is a similar unit to the one in the Yamaha Aerox 155. Other features include a ‘DeepView” LCD cluster or a TFT dash ( depending on the variant), two riding modes – Zip and SmartEco, reverse, hill-hold and Magic Twist.

Rizta Cluster

As for the powertrain, the Rizta is offered in two variants, S and Z, with the former getting a 2.9 kWh pack while the latter gets to choose from either 2.9 kWh or 3.7 kWh battery capacities. The claimed Ather range of 2.9 kWh is 105 km while the 3.7 kWh stands at 125 km. The claimed top speed of both variants is 80 kph and both the packs are IP67 certified with a 400 mm of water wading capacity.

Introductory prices for the Ather Rizta are Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom) for the S variant, Rs 1.25 lakh for the Z 2.9 kWh variant and Rs 1.45 Lakh for the Z 3.7 kWh variant. The Z variant gets a backrest as standard for pillion comfort and comes in 7 colours while it’s optional with the S which only comes in 3 colours. Bookings for the e-scooter are open across all the authorized Ather dealerships while deliveries are slated to commence from July.
