Aprilia Extends Warranty on RS 457 & Tuono 457 For Free -Details

Aprilia has recently updated its warranty policy, bringing in new changes that make it more user-friendly than earlier. The Italian brand earlier launched the RS 457 and Tuono 457 as part of its strategy to utilise India’s manufacturing capabilities. Let’s check out the new warranty update in detail.

Aprilia RS 457, Tuono 457 – Extended Warranty for Free

For context, both the RS 457 and Tuono 457 were offered with a 3 years/ 36,000 km warranty. This has now been extended to 4 years/ 48,000 km. This change in the warranty terms has been issued via circulars to dealers, although Aprilia has yet to make an official announcement regarding the same. The extended warranty ensures longer protection against unexpected repairs and maintenance costs, instilling better confidence in buyers.

Another change that the brand has made in its warranty policy for the RS 457 and Tuono 457 is the removal of the first owner clause, according to which, the warranty on the RS 457 and Tuono 457 was applicable only for the first registered owner. Buyers criticise this clause since it created challenges in selling the bike.

Aprilia, based on the criticisms, has now removed the first owner clause from the warranty of the RS 457 and Tuono 457. The warranty for these two models is now transferable, which makes it possible for buyers to transfer the warranty when selling the bike, provided the terms and conditions of the warranty are met.

The brand’s decisions to bring these updates to the warranty policy could be linked to the engine issue that has been noticed with some units of the RS 457. Users reported issues such as power losses, engine failures, engine losing compression and even problems with the cam chain tensioner.

Aprilia, after investigations of the reported cases, found that most of the problems were linked to unauthorised aftermarket mods and irregular service schedules, while a few genuine issues were also found, which were resolved promptly.

In order to avoid such issues in the future, Aprilia has recommended that users choose genuine aftermarket accessories from authorised Aprilia service centres. The brand also recommended that any repairs or maintenance should be done only by certified technicians at authorised Aprilia dealerships.

As for after-sales experience, some of the affected customers shared their experiences on social media. For the solution, the cylinder head assembly of some bikes was replaced, while in some cases, the entire engine was replaced under warranty. However, these customers claimed to have received no proper explanation from the brand about the problem.
