Toyota is on its way to bringing the Hilux EV Pickup Truck for 2025, initially in the Thailand market. The brand announced it just a few days after Isuzu revealed the D-Max EV recently at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2024. The brand also announced that the production of the Electric Pickup will commence in Thailand by the end of 2025 and will rival the D-Max EV.
Toyota Motor Thailand’s President Noriaki Yamashita stated that the Hilux EV could be ready by the end of next year but whether the Hilux EV will produced in the country itself or imported from overseas was not specified. Yamashita further adds that Toyota will deliver the dozen Hilux EV Pickup trucks to the beach town of Pattaya for trial runs as public transportation next month.
The Hilux EV was initially spotted in the form of the Hilux Revo BEV concept in December 2022. At that time, the concept was said to enter the production phase in 1 year. However, for now, Toyota has yet to provide technical details or information regarding the upcoming Hilux EV which includes its battery capacity, power, torque, interior, features, range and more.
The Toyota Hilux EV is expected to offer a 4WD system with a dual-battery system meaning one on each axle. In terms of powertrain and capabilities, it will be similar to its rival, the Isuzu D-Max which has a 66.9 kWh battery which produces a total output of 177 hp and 325 Nm of Torque. The Isuzu pickup also has a payload capacity of 1000 kg max with a towing capacity of 3,500 kg.
