Honda launched the NX500 at Rs 5.90 lakh

Honda launched the NX500 in India just a day after we reported that pre-bookings are now being accepted by dealerships across the nation. The bike has been launched at an introductory price tag of Rs 5.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are now open and deliveries will begin from February 2024.

The NX500 is here to fill the gap left behind by the CB500X and brings a lot to the table in terms of design and features. Unlike the CB, the new ADV has a more practical design suited for tourers and off-roaders. The bike gets a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster that supports smartphone connectivity for navigation and notification updates. The NX500 can be purchased in 3 colours for now – White, Black and Red.

The bike uses a diamond frame suspended by a Showa USD fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock and weighs 196 kg, 3kg less than the CB500X. The fuel tank capacity of the bike is 17.5 litres. Braking is handled by Nissin, with twin 296mm discs at the front and a single 240mm disc at the rear along with Dual Channel ABS and switchable traction control for extra safety. The bike rolls on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast alloy wheels.

The Honda NX500 is powered by a 471cc, Liquid-cooled unit that churns out 47.5 hp and 43 Nm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch.

With its price tag of Rs 5.90 lakh, the Honda NX500’s closest competitor in terms of pricing would be the Kawasaki Versys 650 (Rs 7.77 lakh) although in terms of power and capabilities, it is more comparable to the Royal Enfield Himalayan (Rs 2.85 – 2.98 lakh) and KTM 390 Adventure (Rs 2.81 – 3.61 lakh).
