New Royal Enfield Continental GT-R to launch with 750cc engine

Royal Enfield is going to debut a new 750cc engine with its new Royal Enfield Continental GT-R 750 bike, which will be a faired cafe racer. The brand has been expanding its lineup for quite some time with 4 powertrains – 350cc, 440cc, 450cc and 650cc. Now, this 750cc engine will debut as the fifth new powertrain and the most powerful one the brand has put out yet.

RE has been working on a new engine for a while now that will have a higher displacement than its current 650cc engine, which is used in some of its popular models like the Continental GT 650, Interceptor 650, Super Meteor 650 and Bear 650.

Test mules of the Continental GT-R have been spotted multiple times with the new 750cc engine, and each time the test mules had a different body of other RE models like the Interceptor, Continental GT and the Himalayan

The new 750cc is currently under development and is internally codenamed ‘R’ and is likely to be a big-bore version of the current 650cc parallel-twin engine, which the brand has already done before with its Continental GT 535.

The Continental GT-R, just like the Continental GT (with its 650cc engine) will be the brand’s maiden bike to debut with the new 750 cc parallel-twin motor. The bike is also currently under development and is internally codenamed as R1E. Testing has already commenced, and test mules have been spotted multiple times.

This new engine will make more power and torque figures than the current 650cc engine on the Continental GT, which churns out 47 bhp and 52.3 Nm. Expect the power to be somewhere in the 50-55 bhp range, while torque figures will likely be somewhere around 60 Nm. A bump in performance calls for more efficient stopping power, and RE is offering a dual-disc brake setup at the front.

As for the design, the bike will be based on the same chassis as the current Continental GT 650 but will get a semi-fairing and round headlight like old-school cafe racers. The suspension will be taken care of by RSU telescopic front and twin-shockers at the rear, although USD forks are also expected to be included.

Royal Enfield is expected to debut the motorcycle by the end of this financial year, most likely at the 2025 EICMA show, and the launch might happen by the end of next year.
